Civil Litigation

Civil litigation is the process of resolution of disputes through the courts or through negotiation. The process starts with a thorough examination of the merits of your case. Not just the legal and evidential questions, but you also need to consider such issues as proportionality and whether your opponent is worth suing. You need to know about the likely costs, time scales and prospects for success and whether some form of alternative dispute resolution will be wise.

As always, we will be entirely transparent about costs. It is often the case that having taken your instructions and got a firm grasp of the issues, it is helpful to write to the other side. We are then in a better position to advise you about costs and prospects. We are usually prepared to progress the matter to this stage on a modest fixed fee so that you are in the best position to make a judgement about your case before you proceed.
